Giusti Balsamic Gift Set

We've been soaking up Stanley Tucci's appetite whetting show, Searching for Italy. We'd love to recommend it, but it's CNN. Nuff said.

Alas, there is one episode on Modena Balsamic Vinegar that dug into the unique flavor profiles created by the Modena region's special micro-climate, rendering this specific balsamic vinegar's complexity and deep rich flavors. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to taste some of the things featured on the show that I missed when living in Italy.

This gift sets is perfect for the foodie or the hard-to-shop-for. It features Giuseppe Giusti's award-winning three gold medal 12-year aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and the second is the same 12-year award winning balsamic vinegar as well as a White Balsamic.

The Giusti family has been producing traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena since the early 1600s. The grape is obtained exclusively from grapes grown in Modena and aged in wooden barrels, some dating back to the 1700s. Giusti holds the largest collection of these ancient barrels for aging the balsamic which is the secret to their complex, intensely flavored vinegars.

IGP Balsamic Vinegar: Made from sun-dried grapes from Modena, this syrupy aged balsamic vinegar features hints of cherry, plum jam, honey and vanilla. 12 year aged. 8.8 oz.

Aged White Vinegar: Made from Trebbiano grapes and mixed with white wine vinegar to balance the sweetness of the grape juice.  It is aged in French oak and ash wooden barrels and after aging has notes of sweet stone fruit and citrus. 8.8 oz.

Made in Italy.
