We are currently on our August Summer break, but wanted to update you all on some BIG CHANGES at Theology of Home!
Theology of Home got started SEVEN years ago, as the spark of the smallest of ideas: to feature engaging content for Catholic women that left the reader edified, fortified, and sanctified.Â
In order to do this, rather than relying on donations, we started The Mercantile, which was the first Catholic site to sell soy Prayer Candles. In effect, we started two major projects, one that fed the other: a great blog and the first Catholic lifestyle brand store.
Both the Blog and The Mercantile continued to grow and this past year, we hit a place where we realized we had to scale up or scale down. We considered a number of partnership opportunities, but never quite found the right fit.
Our problem, gratefully, was one of abundance! Too much to do and not enough of us to do it.
Between time, space, and our other demands, we made the hard decision to start scaling down The Mercantile a few months ago (you may have noticed!). We will continue to sell our books and prayer candles. So go there now! and snatch up anything that isn't books or candles, because we will not be restocking.
We do, however, still need to cover our costs to not just keep The Daily Collection delivered to you, but to continue to contribute to the Catholic conversation with original content.
Starting September 2, The Daily Collection will be moving over to Substack. It will remain free of charge. This change will eliminate our regular delivery expense to our subscriber list (which has reached $1000 a month).
But what is even better for you as the user, we will now be able to put the entire collection into one email, so you have it all at your fingertips and will no longer need to click through to get to the meat of our collection.Â
We are so proud to have been able to platform and feature a number of amazing women, like our much beloved Emily Malloy and Denise Trull. We have also featured Molly Farinholt, Patricia Patnode, Paige Rien, and Amber VanVickle, Elizabeth Wise, Kerri Christopher, Hope Schneir, Becky Carter, Katie Curtis, Michelle Gress, Megan Schrieber, Sofia Infante, Monica Simpson, Muji Kaiser, Laura Camacho, Nicole Tittmann, Maria Khell, Kate Rossing, and Abigail Richard.
A few of these women have at different points worked for free to support our cause, but we have been proud to pay others a competitive fee for their contributions.

Our move to Substack will also offers a paid readership option (which we hope you will consider) which will allow us to bring The Daily Collection to all of our readers for free AND allow us to continue to curate familiar and new voices on our blog.
Another change at TOH is that Noelle will be turning her primary focus to her work at the EPPC think tank and to her upcoming book on the no contact movement. Carrie will take the full reins here at Theology of Home. We are deeply grateful for the years of fruitful collaboration we’ve shared and even more grateful that our friendship remains a lasting bond.
Noelle will still pop in at TOH from time to time, but if you’d like to keep up with her ongoing writing and projects, we encourage you to follow her on Substack.
We continue to be so grateful to all of you -- our readers and customers -- for helping us to make Theology of Home something beyond our wildest imaginings from where we first started seven years ago.Â
Here's to the next seven!
Warmly,
Carrie & Noelle
